03/14/2021 – Jeff Hicks – Jesus Really. Is Jesus Really God?
Astronaut James Erwin is one of but a few men to walk on the moon. As he stood upon the lunar landscape and looked up at the earth, he prayed for the first time in his life. He thought about the strife among nations, poverty, hunger, and rampant evil; and he thought to himself: “What is more important than man walking on the moon is that God should walk on earth.” Jesus is God come to earth and He rules both in heaven and earth.
John 5: 16-30
03/07/2021 – Jeff Hicks – Needing More Than Water
02/28/2021 – Jeff Hicks – John 3: 1-17 – Are you searching for something? Maybe you’re religious in form, just like Nic was. You have a good reputation; you pay your bills & your taxes; drop some money now & then in the offering plate; read the Bible; maybe you dress like a Christian…but you know that there is something missing in your life. God is drawing you to Himself…awakening you to your need of grace. Jesus pinned down his need when He declared in simplicity, “I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of unless a man is born again,” (John 3:3).
02/21/2021 – Jeff Hicks – God Loves Us – If we were to take a poll among believers of the “greatest” verse in the Bible, it would probably be John 3:16. Even the world sees the verse displayed on banners at football games, billboards on the side of the interstate, quoted by sports stars. John 3:16 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. “God loves us.” Those may be some of the sweetest words ever to greet the ears of humankind.
02/14/2021 – Jeff Hicks – Superabundantly – John 2: 1-11 – Blaise Pascal, a seventeenth century French philosopher and mathematician, said that people have a trace of happiness, but it’s only a trace of the original happiness that the first human beings had. We’ve lost true and full happiness. No person is as happy as they were created to be. Pascal describes this as the “infinite abyss”, a giant hole that only God can describe.
02/07/2021 – Jeff Hicks – Who and Why. With Jesus everything is possible –
John 1: 1-14 “The Word became flesh”. I’m partial to John. He was Jesus’ best friend. Our passage this morning is like Christmas in February. God put on clothes and became Jesus.
That’s easy, “”For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to the will of Him who sent me. “ Jn 6:38
01/31/2021 – Jeff Hicks – When Love Came to Town
01/24/2021 – Jeff Hicks – Living On Standby – Sometime when you’re in an airport, observe the difference between passengers who hold confirmed tickets and those who are on standby. The ones with confirmed tickets read newspapers, chat with their friends or sleep. The ones on standby hang around the ticket counter, pace and fret, fret and pace.
01/17/2021 – Jeff Hicks – A message of hope and confidence.-When Jesus came upon Levi He saw a trainwreck of a human being. A tax collector who extorted money from the Jews; His own people! Jesus shrugs His shoulders and says, “nobodies perfect”. Levi becomes Matthew and the mixture of Grace and Truth extends over 2,000 years to us.
