Sermon: Needing More Than Water
Jeff Hicks – 03/07/2021 – John 4:1-26 But this foray elicits a response like a spade hitting hard-packed dirt. “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” she replies. In other words, “Jews and Samaritans don’t hang out together and they certainly don’t drink together, remember? Men and women aren’t even supposed to speak in public to one another; why are you talking to me?” Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.” In other words, “Dear one, what I’m asking for is simply a chance to give you what you are really looking for. I know you are thirsty–thirsty for something you won’t find in this well.”
Sermon: Gentleness & Self-control
Jackson Shamblin – 01/10/2021
-Today we wrapped up our series on the Fruit of the Spirit by talking about Gentleness & Self-control. We talked about how Gentleness is not weakness, but instead it is power under control. We learned that it takes Self-control to truly live out all the fruits of the Spirit. When the fruits of the Spirit are displayed in our lives it will: 1) glorify God & 2) point others to God.
-Remember, we don’t simply try harder to be more loving, joyful, peaceful, patient, king, good, faithful, gentle, and self-controlled. Instead we ask God to fill us with His Spirit, so He can produce these characteristics in our lives.
